Romania’s History of Resistance Gets Its Own Typeface
Monotype was looking for a typeface that would reimagine the role of typography in the tension between freedom and law and order. At the same time, Russian hybrid attacks interfered with Romania’s democratic processes and showed that the country still needs to fight for its freedom. Inspired by the its linguistic and political history, STAZĂ is a typeface that gives letters a new, reimagined form and resurfaces the tension between its lingering past and endangered future.
